One constituent common in most enamel frits is fluorine, but no studies could be located that determined the factor for fluorine alone. As ~ . a~ result, a small study was conducted to determine the effect fluorine on thermal expansion. Procedure Three frit compositions - a clear cover coat, a titania cover coat, and a general-purpose ground coat - were selected to which to add 1, 2, and 3 wt% fluorine. As the fluorine was increased, the rest of the oxides were decreased proportionally. The oxide formulas are shown in Table 11.

Finished parts are shown out of the furnace at the inspection station (Fig. 32). 70 and a pick-up of 45-55 g/2 ft2, and drain time is 25-30 s. 51 Figure 29. Figure 30. Figure 3 I. Figure 32. The porcelain enamel loses water during the flowcoating process and becomes thicker. Usually all that is required to control the enamel after it is set up is the addition of water. A simple, automated method of control is used to add the water. A dual timing device with a solenoid is used to add water at set time intervals and quantities.

Diameter stainless steel nozzles that came with the unit. There were 16 on each side of the housing. We experimented with two different heads, as seen in Fig. 16. 44 Figure 9. Figure 10. 45 Figure I I Figure 12. Figure 13. Figure 14. We experienced problems immediately. Because of the high line speeds, variety of parts, and multiple setups required, there were many enamel skips and misses using 32 small flow patterns. Lower line speeds were tried and helped a little, but did not resolve the problem.
