In Loving Memory of Fr Joah Paul Choorackal
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Fr Joah Paul Choorackal SAC, who departed for his eternal reward on Thursday, 12 June 2025, in Pesaro, Italy, after a prolonged battle with lymphoma. A solemn funeral service was held on Saturday, 14 June 2025, at the Parish Church of Tre Ponti, where Fr Joah Paul had faithfully served for many years. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Msgr Sandro Salvucci, Archbishop of Pesaro, and was attended by Very Rev Fr Zenon Hanas, members of the General Administration, our confreres in Italy, and a large number of priests, religious, and lay faithful who came to bid him farewell.
Following the completion of the necessary formalities, his body was repatriated to India, arriving in Kochi and subsequently brought to his family home on Friday, 27 June 2025. A funeral service and public homage were held at his home parish, Little Flower Church, Thirumudikunnu. That same night, his body was taken to Pallottigiri, Thiruvananthapuram, where the final funeral rites were celebrated the next morning, on Saturday, 28 June 2025. His mortal remains were laid to rest in our cemetery at Pallottigiri.
