Diaconate at Prabodhana, Mysore

Four of our brothers, Bro Akhil Ignacious, Bro Savio Antony, Bro Shijin M.S. and Bro Subin Padappanmakkil were ordained Deacons on 29 June 2023 along with 20 of their companions at Prabodhana, Mysore by his Grace Bernard Moras, the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese of Mysore. This beautiful ceremony was attended by over 105 priests, brothers, several religious sisters and friends from the neighbourhood. Our hearty congratulations to Reverend Deacons!

Perpetual Consecration and First consecration

Bro Arvind Bhuriya made his First Profession in the Society on 31 May 2023 at Pallottigiri, Thiruvananthapuram. The Renewal of Profession of 20 of our young members was held in different communities on 31 May 2023. The brothers studying in Vinzenz Pallotti University, Vallendar renewed their profession on 04 June 2023.  Four of our brothers with temporary Profession, namely, Bro Akhil Ignacious, Bro Savio Antony Menampadathil, Bro Shijin M.S. and Bro Subin Sunil Padappanmakkil made their Final Profession on 31 May 2023 at Pallottigiri, Thiruvananthapuram.

Jubilee Celebration

On 20 May 2023, the anniversary celebration of our Jubilarians was held at Pallottigiri, Thiruvananthapuram. The concelebrated Eucharist was presided over by Fr Mathew Paraplackal and the homily was preached by Fr Emmanuval Joshi Elayachanickal. There was a good gathering of retreatants, confreres of the Thiruvananthapuram Local Community and friends and well-wishers from the neighbourhood. A short felicitation programme followed the Eucharistic celebration during which the Silver Jubilarians Fr Mathew Paraplackal and Fr Emmanuval Joshi Elayachanickal and the Ruby Jubilarian Fr Varghese Madan were felicitated. We also congratulated Fr Johnson Puthur who completed twenty-five years of consecrated life.

Fr Davies Edassery SAC

Fr Davies Edassery SAC, Provincial of Mother of God Province, Milwaukee died on 02 May 2023 at 13:00 hours at Aster Medcity, Kochi, Kerala after prolonged illness. His funeral services were held at his home parish of St Rita’s Church, Champannoor on the following day and at Pallottigiri, Thiruvananthapuram on 04 May 2023. His mortal remains were laid to rest in our cemetery at Pallottigiri. We are sad at the untimely loss of Fr Davies. But we thank God for his life, the gift of this person to our Society and thank him for his love. We continue to pray for his eternal repose.

Ordinations – 2023

This year the Prabhu Prakash Province is blessed with the Priestly Ordination of five new candidates. They are Rev Fr John Dokhanpau (18-01-2023), Rev Fr Romesh R Marak (20-01-2023), Rev Fr Alphonse Lyngkhoi (21-01-2023), Rev Fr Sandeep Bariya (20-02-2023) and Rev Fr Rajesh Vijayakumar (06-02-2023). Out of Five ordinations three were from northeast India, which is indeed a historical moment, as they were the first members to become priests in our province from the North East India. A good number of fathers especially from Arunachal Local community and the diocesean priests were present for the Ordinations. We ensure them our prayers and wish them God’s abundant blessings as they initiate their ministry as a priest in different levels.

Pallotti Bhawan

The Golden Jubilee  and the blessing of the renovated Pallotti Bhawan was celebrated on 16 February 2023. Fathers of the Nagpur Local community and those who participated in the ongoing formation were present for the function. The ceremony included the Blessing of the renovated building and solemn Eucharistic celebration by Rev Fr Joy Palachuvattil, the Provincial  as the main celebrant. 

The Silver Jubilee of Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Anant Nagar

The Silver Jubilee of Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Anant Nagar, was celebrated on 15 January 2023. Solemn Holy Mass presided over by His Grace Elias Gonsalves, the Arch Bishop of Nagpur, followed by a Felicitation program was organized. Fr Jacob Napudakam, the former Rector General, Fr Joy Palachuvattil, the Provincial, and the conferes who served in the parish were present for the event. The New Provincial Council

The newly elected members of the Prabhu Prakash Province took charge for a three-year term on 06 January 2023, in a con-celebrated Holy Eucharist on the feast day of the Epiphany of the Lord. Rev Fr Joy Palachuvattil was re elected for another term and the other elected members of the Provincial Council are, Rev. Fr. Joseph Koovely (Vice Provincial), Rev. Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Rev. Fr. Siju Jose Kuliraniyil and  Rev. Fr. Anthony Herald Roswan as consultors. We extend our warmest congratulations to the new team. We pray that under their great leadership, wisdom and guidance they may take the Province to greater heights.

THE NEW PROVINCIAL COUNCIL OF PRABHU PRAKASH PROVINCE, NAGPUR

The newly elected members of the Prabhu Prakash Province took charge for a three-year term on 05 January 2020, in a con-celebrated Holy Eucharist on the feast day of the Epiphany of the Lord. The newly elected members of the Provincial Council are; Very Rev. Fr. Joy Palachuvattil (Provincial Rector), Rev. Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel (Vice Provincial), Rev. Fr. James Anchukandathil (Provincial Secretary),  Rev. Fr. George Jacob, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Koovely as consultors. The newly elected members were also felicitated in the presence of Most Rev. Elias Gonsalves, the Archbishop of Nagpur and Fathers and Sisters from Nagpur. We extend our warmest congratulations to the new team. We pray that under their great leadership, wisdom and guidance they may take the Province to greater heights.

 

 

 

 

THOUSANDS BID FAREWELL TO RT. REV. THOMAS THENNATT SAC, BISHOP OF GWALIOR

Large number of Bishops, Priests and laity, gathered at St. Paul’s Church, Gwalior paid their last respects and bid farewell to the “Pastor of The Periperies”, Rt. Rev. Thomas Thennatt SAC (65), Bishop of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, who passed away on 14 December, 2018 (Friday) in a tragic car accident. He was returning to the Bishop’s House after an annual function in a school where the vehicle he was travelling skidded off and overturned. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital and thereafter to St. Joseph Hospital, Gwalior where he was declared dead. The funeral service of our beloved Bishop was held on 18 December at 11.00 a.m. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church, Gwalior and the funeral was held at Bishop’s House Cemetery at Gwalior after the funeral mass in the Presence of Bishops, Pallottine Confreres, Priests, Sisters and a large number of laity.  May God grant him eternal rest.
